Lipid Profile (Cholesterol Test)
A Lipid Profile (Cholesterol Test) is a hugely important blood test used to monitor and screen for cardiovascular disease risk. The profile measures the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood. Too much bad cholesterol and triglycerides can lead to deposits (plaques) in arteries. These can block and narrow blood vessels, potentially leading to heart attacks, strokes or clots. High cholesterol and triglyceride levels are a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death globally. Our Lipid Profile (Cholesterol Test) tests for: - Total Cholesterol - LDL Cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) - HDL Cholesterol (the good cholesterol) - A Total Cholesterol to LDL Cholesterol Ratio - Triglycerides It is impossible to know your cholesterol levels and evaluate your true cardiovascular disease risk without a Cholesterol test. Regular cholesterol tests are recommended for those taking cholesterol medication, and those at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease: - a family history of high cholesterol or heart disease - overweight or obese - physically inactive - have diabetes - eat unhealthily - smoke cigarettes Turnaround Time: Most results are back in 1-2 working days. PLEASE NOTE: You are required to fast for at least 10 hours before your cholesterol test. You may still consume water. In fact, it's better for blood draws if you are well hydrated!

Lipid Profile (Cholesterol) & HbA1c Test
A Lipid Profile (Cholesterol Test) is a hugely important blood test used to monitor and screen for cardiovascular disease risk. The profile measures the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood along with HbA1c. This test also includes a Full Blood Count (FBC) looking at Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells and Platelets. Our HbA1c blood test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months, providing essential insights into your long-term glucose control. This test is vital for diagnosing diabetes and prediabetes, monitoring diabetes management and assessing the effectiveness of treatments or lifestyle changes. Our Lipid Profile (Cholesterol) & HbA1c Test tests for: - Total Cholesterol - LDL Cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) - HDL Cholesterol (the good cholesterol) - A Total Cholesterol to LDL Cholesterol Ratio - Triglycerides - HbA1c It is impossible to know your cholesterol levels and evaluate your true cardiovascular disease risk without a Cholesterol test. The added component of HbA1c will also give an indication of blood glucose control over the last 3 months, far superior to a glucose blood test. Regular cholesterol and HbA1c tests are recommended for those taking cholesterol medication, and those at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease: - a family history of high cholesterol or heart disease - overweight or obese - physically inactive - have diabetes or a family history - eat unhealthily - smoke cigarettes - are over 45 years old Turnaround Time: Most results are back in 1-2 working days. PLEASE NOTE: You are required to fast for at least 10 hours before your cholesterol test. You may still consume water. In fact, it's better for blood draws if you are well hydrated!

Blood Group Test
Our Blood Group Test determines your blood type quickly and accurately. This essential test identifies your ABO and RhD blood group, crucial for medical procedures, transfusions and understanding your unique health profile. There are 4 main blood groups defined by the ABO system: Blood Group A – has A antigens on the red blood cells with anti-B antibodies in the plasma Blood Group B – has B antigens with anti-A antibodies in the plasma Blood Group O – has no antigens, but both anti-A and anti-B antibodies in the plasma Blood Group AB – has both A and B antigens, but no antibodies Blood Group O is the most common blood group. Almost half of the Irish population (around 47%) has Blood Group O. Receiving blood from the wrong ABO group can be life-threatening. For example, if someone with Group B blood is given group A blood, their anti-A antibodies will attack the Group A cells. The Rhesus (Rh) System Red blood cells sometimes have another antigen, a protein known as the RhD antigen. If this is present, your blood group is RhD positive. If it's absent, your blood group is RhD negative. This means you can be 1 of 8 blood groups: A RhD positive (A+) A RhD negative (A-) B RhD positive (B+) B RhD negative (B-) O RhD positive (O+) O RhD negative (O-) AB RhD positive (AB+) AB RhD negative (AB-) About 84% of the Irish population is RhD positive (35% of the population has O+, the most common type). Beta hCG Blood Test
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that can be detected in the blood shortly after implantation, typically around 8–10 days after conception. This is a quantitative beta hCG blood test, which measures the exact level of hCG in the bloodstream. Unlike urine pregnancy tests, it provides a numerical result that can be useful for clinical monitoring and accurate age estimation. Serial beta hCG measurements can help assess whether an early pregnancy is progressing as expected, as hCG levels usually rise in a predictable pattern during the first weeks of pregnancy. The test may also assist healthcare professionals when investigating concerns such as ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy or early pregnancy loss. In later pregnancy, hCG forms part of combined screening tests for chromosomal conditions such as Down syndrome, although it is not used alone for this purpose. *Limitations of the Test* Beta hCG levels can vary between individuals and a single result may not provide a complete picture on its own. Results are often most useful when compared with repeat testing and clinical assessment. This test cannot confirm pregnancy location or health by itself. If you experience symptoms such as pain bleeding or dizziness you should seek medical advice promptly regardless of your result. Outside of pregnancy, elevated hCG levels can occasionally be seen in certain medical conditions and testing may be used as part of further investigation when clinically indicated. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 1-2 working days. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast before your test and we recommend that you come well hydrated.

Lipoprotein(a) / Lp(a) Blood Test
The Lipoprotein(a) blood test measures the level of Lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), in your blood. Lipoprotein(a) is a type of cholesterol-carrying particle that, when elevated, can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks, strokes, and aortic valve stenosis. This test is a crucial tool for assessing inherited or unexplained heart disease risks. Why is it Important to Test? - Elevated Lp(a) levels are a genetic risk factor for cardiovascular disease, independent of other cholesterol levels. - High Lipoprotein(a) levels can contribute to the build-up of fatty deposits in arteries, leading to atherosclerosis and blood clot formation. - Unlike standard cholesterol tests, Lp(a) levels remain relatively stable throughout life, making this a one-time test for most people unless treatment or monitoring is needed. - Early detection of elevated Lp(a) allows for preventative strategies to reduce cardiovascular risk. Who Should Test for Lipoprotein(a)? - Have a family history of early heart disease, stroke, or sudden cardiac death. - Have personal or unexplained cardiovascular disease at a young age despite normal cholesterol levels. - Are diagnosed with high cholesterol or other lipid abnormalities. - Have a history of recurrent cardiovascular events (e.g., heart attacks) despite treatment. - Are undergoing evaluation for comprehensive cardiovascular risk. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 1-2 working days. PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT need to fast before your Lipoprotein (a) test. Allergy Tests

Identify food, environmental and airborne allergies with accurate, reliable blood testing.

Food Allergy Test
Our Food Allergy Test measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the blood, helping to detect potential IgE-mediated (Type I) allergic responses to a wide range of common foods. This type of testing is especially useful when skin prick testing is not possible, for example, if you're taking antihistamines, have active eczema or are at risk of a severe allergic reaction. Food allergies occur when the immune system reacts to a food protein that is normally harmless. Symptoms can range from mild itching or swelling to more serious reactions, including anaphylaxis. Approximately 1 in 3 people in Ireland now live with some form of allergy, and this number continues to grow. Allergies can also change over time, so repeat testing may be beneficial if your symptoms evolve. This blood test is performed using a laboratory-based immunoassay, providing a safe and accurate way to assess your body’s sensitisation to specific foods. A positive result indicates that your immune system has produced IgE antibodies to a certain food, but it doesn’t confirm that you will necessarily have symptoms. That's why it’s important to consider your results alongside your clinical history and any reactions you've experienced. We offer a targeted panel of food allergens, selected based on common triggers and clinical relevance. This focused approach avoids unnecessary screening while delivering the insights you need. What’s Tested: Dairy & Egg: Casein, Milk, Egg White, Egg Yolk Nuts & Seeds: Almond, Hazelnut, Peanut, Sesame Seed, Walnut Fruit & Vegetables: Apple, Carrot, Celery, Coconut, Garlic, Onion, Orange, Peach, Potato, Strawberry, Tomato Seafood: Cod Fish, Crab, Salmon, Shrimp, Tuna Other Foods: Chocolate, Corn, Oat, Rye Flour, Soyabean, Wheat Total IgE is also included for an overview of general allergic sensitivity. Important: This test does not detect non-IgE-related food intolerances (like lactose intolerance or coeliac disease), nor does it measure IgG antibody responses. If you’ve experienced symptoms such as skin reactions, digestive issues, or respiratory problems after eating, this test can help identify whether an IgE-mediated allergy might be to blame. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 5 - 7 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test. Please come to your appointment warm and well hydrated.

Pollen & Grass Allergy Test
Our Pollen & Grass Allergy Test detects allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the blood, helping to identify sensitisation to a range of common pollens and grasses. This type of testing is especially useful when skin prick testing is not suitable, for example, if you're taking antihistamines, have eczema or are at risk of anaphylaxis. It offers a safe and accurate way to explore suspected IgE-mediated (Type I) allergies. Pollen and grass allergies, also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis or hay fever, can cause a range of symptoms including sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, coughing and shortness of breath. In Ireland, pollen allergies are common and often worsen during spring and summer. Allergies can also change over time, making retesting useful if your symptoms evolve. This test uses in vitro immunoassay technology to identify sensitisation. A positive IgE result indicates that your immune system has recognised an allergen and produced antibodies against it. However, not all sensitised individuals show symptoms, so results should always be interpreted in the context of your clinical history. What’s Tested: Trees: Beech, Grey Alder, Hazel Tree, Maple Tre, Oak, Silver Birch, Walnut Tree Pollen, Willow Grasses & Weeds: English Plantain, June Grass, Meadow Fescue, Mugwort, Orchard Grass, Perennial Rye Grass, Timothy Grass Other: Total IgE – gives a general overview of your allergic sensitivity Important: This test is designed to detect IgE-mediated allergic responses only. It does not identify non-IgE-driven conditions like coeliac disease, food intolerances or eosinophilic disorders. If you experience seasonal allergy symptoms or suspect pollen exposure may be affecting your health, this test provides a clinically backed, laboratory-based insight into what might be triggering your immune response. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 5 - 7 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test. Please come to your appointment warm and well hydrated.

Mould & Fungal Allergy Test
Our Mould & Fungal Allergy Test measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the blood to identify potential IgE-mediated (Type I) allergic reactions to various moulds and yeasts. This test is particularly useful when skin prick testing is unsuitable, for example, if you're taking antihistamines, have eczema or are at risk of anaphylaxis. Mould and fungal spores are common triggers for respiratory symptoms such as sneezing, wheezing, sinus congestion and asthma flare-ups. These allergens are found year-round in damp environments, poorly ventilated spaces and in certain food or workplace exposures. Testing is helpful for individuals with ongoing symptoms, especially when mould exposure is suspected at home, school or work. The test is performed using a reliable in vitro immunoassay method. A positive IgE result indicates sensitisation: your immune system has produced antibodies in response to a specific mould or fungal allergen. However, not everyone with a positive result will experience symptoms, so test results should always be interpreted alongside your clinical history. Please note: This test does not detect non-IgE-related sensitivities (e.g. coeliac disease or food intolerances), nor does it measure IgG antibodies. If you’ve experienced unexplained allergy symptoms, particularly in damp or mould-prone environments, this test offers a safe and effective way to investigate fungal or mould-related allergies and take action toward improving your health. What’s Tested: - Alternaria tenuis - Aspergillus fumigatus - Baker’s yeast - Brewer’s yeast - Candida albicans - Cladosporium herbarum - Penicillium notatum Total IgE – included to assess overall allergic reactivity. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 5 - 7 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test. Please come to your appointment warm and well hydrated.

Pet & Animal Dander Allergy Test
Our Pet & Animal Dander Allergy Test is designed to detect allergen-specific IgE antibodies in response to common animals and pets. It helps identify whether symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, wheezing, skin irritation or congestion are linked to an allergic reaction to animal dander or epithelial proteins. This test is especially useful when skin prick testing is not appropriate, such as when you are taking antihistamines, have eczema or other skin conditions, or are at risk of severe allergic reactions. It offers a safe alternative backed by immunoassay technology used in primary care settings. Allergies to pets are increasingly common in Ireland, with symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Even if you’ve lived with an animal for years, allergies can still develop or worsen over time. Our targeted panel provides insights into which specific animals may be causing sensitisation, supporting better management or avoidance strategies. A positive IgE result indicates sensitisation—your immune system has reacted to a specific animal allergen. However, not all sensitised individuals experience symptoms, so results should always be interpreted in the context of your clinical history and exposure. What’s Tested: - Cat epithelium and dander - Cow dander - Dog epithelium - Dog dander - Guinea pig epithelium - Hamster epithelium - Horse dander - Rabbit epithelium - Total IgE – included to assess overall allergic sensitivity Please note: This test does not detect non-IgE-related reactions (e.g. coeliac disease or food intolerances) and does not measure IgG antibody responses. If you’ve experienced unexplained allergy symptoms and live or work around animals, this test can help identify the cause, so you can take steps to reduce your exposure and improve your quality of life. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 5 - 7 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test. Please come to your appointment warm and well hydrated.

Standard Allergy Test
Our Standard Allergy Test is an extended IgE panel that investigates a wider range of allergens than basic screening tests—ideal for individuals with persistent or complex allergy symptoms. Using a reliable laboratory immunoassay, this test detects allergen-specific IgE antibodies in your blood, supporting the investigation of IgE-mediated (Type I) allergic responses. This test is particularly useful when skin prick testing is unavailable or unsuitable—such as when antihistamines are being used, in patients with active eczema, or where there’s a potential risk of anaphylaxis. It’s designed to provide clinical insight when more common allergens have been ruled out or when a broader profile is required. Allergies affect nearly 29% of people in Ireland and can range from mild to severe. Reactions may involve the skin, respiratory tract, or digestive system and may change over time. Repeat testing can be helpful when symptoms evolve, new exposures occur, or diagnosis remains unclear. This comprehensive panel extends sensitivity detection to approximately 90% of IgE-mediated allergies commonly encountered in UK and Irish primary care settings. Note: This test detects IgE-mediated allergies only. It does not assess food intolerances, coeliac disease, or IgG antibody responses. If you’re experiencing unexplained allergic symptoms or need a wider clinical picture to support diagnosis, the Standard Allergy Test offers a fast, accurate way to help guide your next steps. What’s Tested: Inhalant Allergens: - American House Dust Mite (D. farinae) - European House Dust Mite (D. pteronyssinus) - Cat epithelium and dander - Dog epithelium - Dog dander - Mugwort - Silver Birch - Timothy Grass Food Allergens: - Cod fish - Egg white - Egg yolk - Hazelnut - Milk - Peanut - Sesame seed - Shrimp - Soyabean Total IgE – included to assess overall allergic sensitivity Turnaround Time: Most results available in 5 - 7 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test. Please come to your appointment warm and well hydrated.

Advanced Allergy Test
The Advanced Allergy Test is designed for individuals with complex, persistent or unexplained allergy symptoms. This advanced panel measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies in your blood to assess for sensitisation to a wide spectrum of triggers: foods, pollens, pet dander, moulds and environmental allergens. This test is particularly useful when skin prick testing is not feasible, such as when antihistamines are being used, skin conditions are present or there's a risk of anaphylaxis. It is also ideal when previous targeted panels haven’t revealed a likely cause or when multiple sensitivities are suspected. With approximately 29% of people in Ireland living with an allergy, and numbers continuing to rise, this test offers an extensive overview of potential IgE-mediated reactions that may be contributing to symptoms such as rashes, respiratory issues, digestive discomfort or fatigue. A positive result indicates sensitisation, ie. your immune system has produced specific IgE antibodies in response to an allergen. However, not all sensitised individuals experience symptoms, which is why results should always be interpreted alongside your clinical history. What’s Tested: Animals & Environmental: - American & European House Dust Mite (D. farinae & D. pteronyssinus) - Cat epithelium and dander - Dog epithelium and dander - Cow, horse, rabbit, guinea pig, and hamster dander Food Allergens: - Almond, Apple, Carrot, Casein, Celery, Chocolate, Coconut - Cod fish, Crab, Salmon, Tuna, Shrimp - Corn, Egg white, Egg yolk, Garlic, Hazelnut, Milk - Oat, Onion, Orange, Peach, Peanut, Potato, Rye Flour - Sesame seed, Soyabean, Strawberry, Tomato, Walnut, Wheat Pollen & Grass: - Beech, Grey Alder, Hazel Tree, Maple Tree, Oak, Silver Birch, Walnut Tree, Willow - English Plantain, Mugwort, June Grass, Meadow Fescue, Orchard Grass - Perennial Rye Grass, Timothy Grass Mould & Fungal: - Alternaria tenuis, Aspergillus fumigatus, Baker’s yeast, Brewer’s yeast - Candida albicans, Cladosporium herbarum, Penicillium notatum Total IgE (assesses general allergic reactivity) Important: This test is designed to detect IgE-mediated allergic responses only. It does not identify non-IgE-driven conditions like coeliac disease, food intolerances or eosinophilic disorders. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 5 - 7 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test. Please come to your appointment warm and well hydrated.

Genomics

Unlock insights into your genetic makeup with advanced DNA and genetic testing.

Genetic Haemochromatosis Blood Test
Ireland has the highest rates of haemochromatosis in the world. Approximately 1 in 83 are at risk of developing haemochromatosis and 1 in 5 are carriers of the gene. Haemochromatosis is a condition where too much iron builds up in the body, this can lead to some serious health problems as the body can't get rid of the excess iron. Excess iron can build up in various areas of the body: - liver - skin - heart - pancreas - joints - pituitary gland This build-up of iron can lead to tissue and organ damage. Many people with haemochromatosis don't have noticeable symptoms, but when symptoms do appear they vary between individuals. Some common symptoms include: - fatigue and weakness - weight loss - low sex drive - abdominal pain - bronze or grey skin colour - joint pain There are two types of haemochromatosis: 1. Primary Haemochromatosis aka Hereditary Haemochromatosis This results from genetic factors. Usually, someone with this type of haemochromatosis inherits a defective HFE gene from both parents. The HFE gene controls how much iron you absorb from your food. However, not everyone who inherits the genes develops haemochromatosis. 2. Secondary Haemochromatosis This results from another medical issue causing the iron build-up. In this disease, red blood cells often release too much iron as they are too fragile. Risk factors for Secondary Haemochromatosis include: - alcohol dependency - a family history of diabetes, heart disease or liver disease - taking too many iron and vitamin C supplements - frequent blood transfusions Our Iron Status Blood Test covers 5 key iron related markers that can be used to determine haemochromatosis. One that is especially important, is Transferrin Saturation, a useful measure of how much iron is bound to the protein transferrin. THIS IS NOT INCLUDED BUT CAN BE ADDED TO YOUR TEST AT THE SAME TIME. What does the Genetic Haemochromatosis Blood Test cover? Our test involves the detection of the three most common mutations of the HFE gene, these are: - HFE C282Y - HFE H63D - HFE S65C Who should get the Genetic Haemochromatosis Blood Test? It should be carried out to diagnose or rule out haemochromatosis in symptomatic individuals with evidence of iron overload. Book your Genetic Haemochromatosis Blood Test in Dublin or Kildare today. Most results in within 7 working days. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test and we recommend that you come warm and well hydrated. This is a blood draw test.

Genetic Coeliac Disease Blood Test
Coeliac Disease is a condition where your body's immune system attacks your own tissues when you eat gluten. This damages the small intestine, so the body cannot properly absorb nutrients. Gluten is found in three types of cereal: - wheat - barley - rye Foods containing those types of cereal (and therefore gluten) include: - most breads - pasta - cakes - breakfast cereals - beer - certain sauces - certain ready meals Symptoms of Coeliac Disease When eating foods that contain gluten, it can trigger a range of gut issues, such as: - diarrhoea - stomach aches - bloating and flatulence - indigestion - constipation Some more general symptoms of Coeliac Disease include: - fatigue - unintentional weight loss - an itchy rash - infertility What does the Genetic Coeliac Disease Test cover? Our test involves the detection of HLA-DQB1*02, DQB1*03:02, DQA1*05 and DQA1*03 alleles by RT-PCR from extracted genomic DNA. This allows us to determine the HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 antigens associated with coeliac disease. The HLA-DQ2 is present in around 90% of people with coeliac disease, whilst the HLA-DQ8 is present in 5 - 8% of people with coeliac disease. It's important to note: CARRYING THE GENE DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL DEFINITELY DEVELOP COELIAC DISEASE, but it might mean that you develop it at some point in your lifetime. A positive result in coeliac gene testing suggests a likelihood of disease, rather than a certainty. Don't wait any longer to find out if you have a Coeliac Disease gene. Book your Coeliac Disease Genetic Test in Dublin or Kildare today. Results within 7 days. PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to fast for this test and we recommend that you come warm and well hydrated. This is a blood draw test.

Fertility

Fertility assessments for individuals and couples planning for the future.

Fertility Health Blood Test
Ever wondered if your ovarian reserve is normal for your age or if your hormones could be affecting your fertility, mood, weight and energy levels? Then our Fertility Health Blood Test is for you. Infertility affects 1 in 6 people globally, and as we age, our egg reserve declines significantly. Over 66% of females have at least one hormone outside the normal range affecting fertility or general well-being. Our comprehensive test is a great option for men and women wanting an insight into their fertility health. The Fertility Health Blood Test measures over 50 data points, including fertility hormones, thyroid hormones, iron levels, heart health, diabetes status, nutrition, and body composition to provide a complete picture of your health. For women, AMH (Antimullerian Hormone) can be included for an additional €50 fee. This determines the egg reserve in your ovaries. To include, leave a note in the comments or mention to your phlebotomist at the blood draw. Important Testing Information: Hormonal contraceptives and irregular menstrual cycles may affect results. Testing is recommended on day 3 of your menstrual cycle for accuracy. Turnaround Time: Most results available in 1-3 working days. Occasionally there may be delays. PLEASE NOTE: We recommend fasting for 8 to 10 hours before your Fertility Health Blood Test. You may still consume water. In fact, it's better for blood draws if you are well hydrated!
